One Simple Act School Toolkit
This toolkit provides grades one to six teachers with the tools and resources to have students personally commit to one of ten simple acts that protect the environment.
Running Water
This poster kit supports Freshwater and Saltwater Systems. The poster represents the semi-arid environment of Southern Alberta. Students will learn about water use, water conservation, and water management, while making connections to science, technology, society and the environment.
Stream Connections
A poster illustrating a typical northern Alberta stream. The poster back describes the history, physical characteristics, biodiversity, human uses and issues associated with northern streams.
Webbed Feet Not Required
This kit is best suited for Grade Five Science (Wetland Ecosystems) and combines a variety of hands-on, interactive activities with inquiry-based learning. The kit includes a teacher’s guide and several supplementary resources.
WaterQuest
is based on the Government of Alberta’s water strategy: Water for Life: Alberta's Strategy for Sustainability. It is intended as a learning supplement to the Grade 8, Freshwater Ecosystems unit. WaterQuest is designed to increase student awareness of human impact on watersheds and to encourage responsible and sustainable watershed practices. WaterQuest is a joint project between EPCOR & Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development.
Additional environmental educational resources can be found under the Healthy Aquatic Ecosystem Education Resources tab and the Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development website
